The 2-meter-tall (about 6-feet-tall) snow sculpture of the Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku suddenly collapsed in Sapporo on Tuesday, and debris struck a woman who was walking past it. The police investigation indicated that the warm weather caused the snow to weaken and collapse.
The collapse occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at the main area of the Sapporo Snow Festival in Odori Park. It struck a 61-year-old woman, who was taken to a hospital.

Update: Crypton Future Media President Hiroyuki Itoh announced on Tuesday that one of the snow sculptures of its Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku will be rebuilt at Sapporo, after the sculpture collapsed earlier in the day. Itoh anticipated that the rebuilding will be completed before daybreak this Saturday, February 11.
The collapse occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at the main area of the Sapporo Snow Festival in Odori Park. A clump of snow struck the back of a 61-year-old female sightseer, who was taken to a hospital. Itoh express his company's regret and sympathies for the incident.
Update: The rebuilt sculpture will be moved to a new location. Similar to a Snow Miku sculpture made in 2011, only the front facade of the character will be carved into a snow wall, instead of the freestanding statue that had collapsed.
