62-inch-tall statue to be featured as part of Snow Miku promotion in Hokkaido
Hokkaido's 63rd annual Sapporo Snow Festival will host a life-size statue of the Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku. The statue will stand at 158 centimeters (about 62 inches) tall. The Sapporo Snow Festival will be held from February 6-12.
Hatsune Miku is collaborating with Sanrio's Hello Kitty for a Snow Miku line of characters goods that will only be available in the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.
The collaboration ties into the Snow Miku promotion that Crypton Future Media has created as part of this year's festival. Part of the promotion includes two Snow Miku plush dolls, and Crypton Future Media will also sell 3,000 limited-edition Nendoroid Snow Miku Fluffy Coat Ver. figures at the Sapporo Factory Hall this winter.
Also as a part of the campaign, the railway cars in Hokkaido Prefecture's Sapporo City were redesigned as Yuki Miku Densha (Snow Miku Trains). The trains are running from December 19 to March 30, and this is the second year the trains will feature the Vocaloid character.
A snow sculpture of Snow Miku was featured at the 2010 snow festival.
